VPI: Rail freight transport needs further modernisation of the infrastructure

With over 450 guests, the traditional New Year's reception of the Association of Freight Car Owners in Germany e.V. (VPI) set a new attendance record. At the 14th VPI Symposium on the following January 9th, the modernisation of the infrastructure and combined transport were the focus of the debates.
"The partnership with Beacon Rail and the Ermewa Group concerns a sale-and-lease-back agreement for part of the Lineas fleet. The transaction will allow Lineas to fully repay its senior credit lines and further expand its financial reserves. The agreement reached by the parties includes the phased sale and leaseback of 109 T77 diesel locomotives over the period 2021-2023 and around 4,000 freight cars in 2021. "

The parliamentary state secretary in the German Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport, Michael Theurer, made his first public appearance at an online conference organised by the “Pro-Rail Alliance” with “train influencers”. Theurer came out as a “frequent rail traveller”.
