The European Locomotive Leasing Group (ELL) is entering the last month of 2023 with a bang. On November 30, the Vienna-based company signed a framework agreement with Siemens Mobility (Munich) for the delivery of up to 200 additional Vectron locomotives. Locomotives will be procured in various power system configurations that can be used in both passenger and freight transport.

Alpha Trains, Europe's leading locomotive and passenger train leasing company, has a new managing director for its locomotive division. Vincent Pouyet will take up his new role on December 1, 2023. He succeeds Fernando Pérez, who was promoted to CEO of Alpha Trains Group in July 2023.

A new stage of cooperation between Nexrail and Vossloh Rolling Stock began at the end of 2022. Both companies signed a contract for the purchase and delivery of a further 50 DE 18 Stage V locomotives. The largest part of the order consists of a lot of 40 locomotives with German track approval, which are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2023.

In 2008, the French state railway SNCF established Akiem to offer heavy locomotive leasing for liberalised rail freight transport. Recently, the French state called on SNCF to reduce debt by selling subsidiaries. Therefore, with validity from December 9, 2022, Akiem was transferred for EUR 800 million to the investor Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, CDPQ for short.
