A doubling, halving and a start – these are my three wishes for transport policy in Germany in the new year.
Investments in the new construction and expansion of the rail infrastructure should double so that the governing coalition comes closer to its rail policy goals. At the same time, the projects in the rail sector have to be implemented more quickly – here I imagine halving the duration that has been customary up to now. And thirdly, the entry into an intermodal policy must succeed – with a clear focus on sustainability. Three wishes, all of which are feasible and all of which serve one major cause: to make mobility in Germany more climate and people-friendly.
