The Riedbahn in southwest Germany was the first railway line that Deutsche Bahn’s infrastructure company DB InfraGO upgraded according to the new general renovation model between July and December 2024. Container wagons rented by the Ermewa company also played a part in the success of the work.
General renovation meant that the busy railway line between Mannheim and Frankfurt was completely closed for several months. The availability of rolling stock for the transport of tracks, ballast and other materials played an important role.
For this purpose, Ermewa rented a total of 120 Sgnss 60′ container wagons and a further 60 Sgmmnss 40′ container wagons to DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH. The last tranche of six wagons was handed over on June 20th in Stolberg. All wagons were brand new and came from the Tatrawagonka and Đuro Đaković workshops. They have GPS sensors and, like all container wagons in the Ermewa fleet, are equipped with K-blocks.
By leasing wagons to the company for the first time, Ermewa is further expanding its long-standing business relationship with DB AG. “It is important to us to be able to reliably provide DB InfraGO’s Riedbahn project with good equipment for transporting supplies and waste to the construction site,” says Thomas Nedwed, Head of Logistics at DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH. Ermewa is a European market leader in rail vehicle leasing. With its more than 47,000 wagons, the company serves all market segments for the transport of hazardous and non-hazardous liquids, gases, bulk goods and diversified general cargo, including food and non-food products. www.ermewa.com hfs/ea
