The UEEIV is the European umbrella organisation of national organisations of railway engineers. It has members in 14 countries inside and outside the European Union. In 2024, it was decided that our specialist journal CARGO FREIGHT JOURNAL (CFJ) would become the official media partner of the UEEIV. Our specialist magazine rail & mobility is also involved in the partnership.

That is why CFJ and r&m report extensively on the activities of the UEEIV and its member associations. UEEIV President Olaf Scholtz-Knobloch conducts interviews with representatives of the railway industry for CFJ and r&m. We give the individual member associations space to present their activities. The UEEIV was founded more than 30 years ago to facilitate a Europe-wide continuous railway system. As a cooperation platform for stakeholders in the railway sector, a core function of the UEEIV is the certification of engineers to EURAIL-ING, which improves their chances on the international job market. More than 470 EURAIL-ING have been registered by the UEEIV in 21 different countries so far.

The UEEIV has a considerable pool of expert engineering knowledge in every discipline and thus offers a strong network of competent professionals in the railway sector and its supply industry.

On November 8 and 9, 2024, UEEIV organised a large annual conference in Sofia with the Bulgarian member associations. To support this conference, CFJ and r&m published a special issue that dealt specifically with topics of the conference and with the railway industry in the Balkans and other parts of Europe. This issue was published in English and also in Bulgarian so that railway experts from the host country could optimally understand the topics of the magazine.
