transport logistics 9.-12. May 2023 in Munich: world fair of superlatives

From May 9, 2023, transport logistic in Munich will once again prove its importance as the world's leading trade fair for the industry with the largest supporting program in its history to date. For the first time there will be a campus plaza for innovation and careers, because the promotion of young talent has top priority. The opening speech will be held by Exhibition Director Stefan Rummel together with Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Volker Wissing.

The major event organised by Messe München scores with a top-class conference program with over 250 speakers in more than 50 sessions. The topics range from A for alternative drives to digitization, to capacity bottlenecks and V for volatile markets. A highlight session will certainly go well with this key point, which is under the headline: The influence of geopolitics on the supply chain – current classification and outlook. Top issues for shippers, service providers and technology providers will be digitized and decarbonised supply chains.

How does the sector itself view its current situation? In an online survey in January, more than 2,500 service providers, shippers and outfitters submitted their assessments for the trend index of transport logistic. In summary, the trade fair judged: Some of those surveyed are pessimistic about the future, but overall the industry is robust. What unites everyone is the lack of skilled workers and drivers in a market environment characterised by inflation. Under the motto “Experience Connectivity”, the focus is on cooperation along the supply chain. Trade fairs are more important than ever.

One in three of the companies surveyed expects a downturn.A two-thirds majority has already agreed to this. The industry anticipates all eventualities.Around three quarters expect further disruptions in the supply chains.Positive: However, just as many could cushion a further intensification due to the war in Ukraine without economic consequences.

Resilience between exploding costs and climate change is a requirement for supply chains across all modes of transport.

Shippers from the building materials, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, consumer goods and automotive sectors come to Munich. They discuss solutions in the context of social, political and economic developments.

The knowledge of key players and newcomers crystallises in the forums with a focus on sustainability, infrastructure, digitization and supply chain solutions.A career day rounds off the program on Friday. In addition, the exhibitors are busier than ever. The list of events already includes more than 40 dates, and the trend is rising. From the live demo to the stand party to the mini conference, everything is included.A new addition to the supporting program is the Campus Plaza in Hall B2 with lectures every 30 minutes and pure networking.Admission to the conferences is possible at any time and is already included in the trade fair ticket.

At the operational level, the conference program shows levers for sustainability, especially with digitisation and decarbonisation of the supply chain.

In addition to the DVZ conference marilog, air cargo Europe, the world’s largest meeting of the air freight industry, is also dedicated to the topic. During the sessions, hydrogen stands out, from production and transport to use in vehicles, ships and airplanes. Among other things, the German Transport Forum (DVF) invites you to the economic-political panel “Hydrogen and Co: Logistics for the energy transition”.

“Our conference and supporting program connects trade fair visitors with hands-on information for everyday business,” says Dr.

Robert Schönberger, Head of transport logistic exhibitions, and adds: “At the same time, innovations look to the future. The incredible range and thematic depth of the program, which we organize together with our publishing, association and university partners, underlines the importance of transport logistic as the world’s leading trade fair. A system-relevant industry is showing in Munich what it can do and how it will secure our future.”
