Spedition Haalboom: Mastering the crisis situation in solidarity

In a letter to its business partners, the international freight forwarder OTTO HAALBOOM from Hamburg called on the industry to continue to carry out transport tasks as best as possible despite the ongoing crisis caused by global politics.

“There were already enough reasons for insecurity before Corona: climate change, digitization, political unrest. The pandemic in particular has presented the logistics industry with unprecedented challenges – which we have, however, mastered with the obligatory rolled-up sleeves and perseverance. At the beginning of the year, the mood in the economy finally picked up again, albeit subdued.” This is how forwarder Haalboom begins his letter. He further says:

“Until February 24th. Then the smoldering situation in Ukraine escalated into an actual, intolerable war. Once again we realized that our world will never be the same again. Every day we are reminded only too painfully of how fragile our lives are.

But no matter what comes: You can rely on us even in these difficult times. We do everything in our power to meet deadlines and process your orders with the (rightly) accustomed precision. Even if there are market constraints that keep throwing massive boulders in our way. The blatant lack of drivers and vehicles is trying our patience – we ask for your understanding. So if something gets in the way: Please do not hesitate to contact us personally.

Dramatically increased costs due to various factors in the supply chain, for example exploding raw material and energy prices, unfortunately force us to adjust freight prices to the situation in the medium term. Of course, this only happens after prior consultation with you – because Putin’s war will not change anything about the cornerstones of our trusting and partnership-based cooperation.

Challenging, intense months are behind us, we all desperately need a breather. And it is currently not even clear what damage will be done in the coming months. How are you supposed to keep your balance on such an unsteady ground? The best way is to focus on what counts, but unfortunately has been forgotten far too often: on solidarity, cohesion, loyalty. We are here for you. Sincerely yours, Otto Haalboom
