The Akiem Group, based in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, explained through its CEO Fabien Rochefort: “At Akiem we strive to offer our customers throughout Europe locomotives with which they can secure and expand their cross-border operations. In this way, we are strengthening our ability to offer reliable, economical, safe and cost-effective traction services that both passenger and freight transport companies expect. We look forward to continuing to supply our customers with state-of-the-art locomotives that will operate on the corridors to Scandinavia, the Italian peninsula and Central and Southeastern Europe.”
The order goes back to a framework agreement signed in August 2021 for the purchase of locomotives, additional equipment and services. “We are very pleased to have Akiem as a new Vectron customer. Our Vectron is a very reliable, environmentally friendly and powerful locomotive that meets the requirements of European traffic and offers our customers maximum flexibility”, said Albrecht Neumann, CEO Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility.
The multi-system locomotives ordered have a maximum output of 6.4 megawatts and a top speed of 200 km / h. They are equipped with the necessary national train control system as well as with the European train control system (ETCS).
To date, Siemens Mobility has sold 1,156 Vectron locomotives to 58 customers in 16 countries, including 767 Vectron MS vehicles. The Vectron fleet has covered over 500 million fleet kilometers to date. The locomotives are approved in 20 European countries. (si / hfs)
